They Feed on What You Hold – The Spiritual Cost of Unreleased Emotion

There are forces we carry that are not ours.
Spirits that don’t belong to us but live within us.
They aren’t visible to the naked eye, but they act through us.
And if we’re not vigilant, they take residence in our hearts, our minds, and our reactions, feeding, lingering, and growing.
This isn’t just metaphor.
This is spiritual law.
Some entities don’t consume food.
They consume energy.
The more dense, stuck, and unresolved that energy is, the more nourishing it becomes to them.
Take resentment, for example.
It simmers, it festers, it builds an entire story.
It feels justified.
But in truth, it’s often a loop.
And that loop is where the spirit attaches itself.
These spirits don’t arrive with name tags.
They don’t say, “I’m here to keep you in victimhood.”
They whisper things like:
“You’re right to feel this way.”
“Don’t let it go.”
“They need to pay.”
They disguise themselves as justice.
But what they truly crave is repetition.
They need you to keep playing the memory, holding the tension, and nursing the wound.
Because every time you do, they feed.
This is not to say your emotions are invalid.
They’re very real.
Your pain is real.
But pain is meant to be witnessed, expressed, and ultimately released.
When we hold on to it beyond the natural process of healing,
we risk becoming hosts.
That is why exorcisms exist in the Church.
Why limpias exist in ancestral traditions.
Because deep in our blood memory, we know
there are forces that must be cleared.
Sometimes, they don’t go quietly.
I’ve been in spaces where spontaneous exorcisms occurred,
where healing demanded action before understanding.
Where the medicine knew what the mind hadn’t yet grasped.
These spirits don’t care if you call yourself spiritual.
They thrive on unexamined emotion, on pride, on self-righteousness, on unresolved pain.
And their goal is simple.
To keep you in the loop, so you never evolve.
But you have a choice.
You can feel.
You can honor your pain.
And then you can release it.
You can take your body and spirit back from whatever made a home inside it.
Because you were never meant to carry resentment for others.
You were meant to carry light.
To walk in freedom.
To live in sovereignty.
Release what feeds on you.
Reclaim your spirit.
And return to who you truly are.
With love and appreciation,
